Updates, updates and more updates!
I know I’ve been missing in action for the longest time ever!
Many of you ask me why no updates on your blog? My reply was lazy, no time etc. :P
I have lots to updates…Isaac….oh Isaac…
He is already 9months and 4days old today. Time flies or what?
Ooops my last post was 2months ago…previously I blog about Isaac’s progress. About 1 month after that, he was doing so many things that I hope I can record all of them down.
From crawling to sitting up by himself to pulling himself up and standing up and walking to mumbling words! Yes, guess what is Isaac’s first word? MA-MA…..after all the sacrifices it’s really worth all the effort! Whenever he sees me he will call me MA-MA.
He has 4 teeth now 2 at the bottom and 2 big teeth on top and has been drooling a lot!
He started walking at 8months plus and I have a strong feeling he might walk independently soon?
At 9months, he already can master the Walking Toy (from Fisher Price). Yesterday night he was holding on the toy and cruising around the living hall. I remember my MIL gave this toy to Naomi during Christmas and she was struggling with the toy (That time she was about 9months plus also). Besides, using the walker to walk, Isaac is able to ride on it, he can use his leg to move and change direction! Is he talented or what?! Haha…
I still don’t know what his current weight is as we’re schedule for a 2nd prevanar jab end of this month only. Overall he is doing pretty okay and he’s still on mummy’s milk. I did introduce him to formula and he likes it as well. For solid, he’s eating very well and can eat quite a big bowl of porridge. I’ve started to give him a lot of solids such as cereals, carrots, potatoes, fish, chicken, pork, bread, oats, apples, pears, sweet potatoes, avocados, kiwi and etc. He’s quite adventurous when comes to food as he is willing to try anything and everything that is edible.
He still wakes up in the middle of the night for milk (a.k.a confort sucking). I still let him sleep by himself on his cot every night but sometimes when he’s awake he will stand up on his cot and call onto me. Tjun Aun prefers him to sleep in the middle (same bed as us) as he’s scared that he might climb over and fall from his cot (like what had happen to Naomi – before she turns the big 1). Obviously, Isaac prefers to sleep with us. He will sleep longer when he shares the bed with us compare to the sleep on his cot. Stay tune...more updates coming up...

Isaac @7months
No eggs please!
This is a back dated post. This incident happened 2 weeks ago and it was so scary.
I was suppose to work till 7:30 that day and I received a frantic phone call at 6pm from Alice, my babysitter. She asked me to come over to her house asap as Isaac was sick as in seriously sick. She started off by telling me Isaac was having difficulties in breathing and has lots of cold sweat. Besides that, his body was red and swollen. My hands were shaking already that time. The first thing I asked her was “What did you feed him just now? Anything new?” Her reply was “Egg” I was horrified and told her no eggs for babies before 1 year old! As the chances of developing allergy is very high.
She said she took Isaac to the 24hours clinic and the doctor told her to send Isaac to the hospital straight away. I asked my babysitter to take him to the hospital first and will meet them there.
I called Dr Tan on his handphone and he told me has night clinic that day and he will be coming in at 7pm. By the time I reach hospital, the time was already 6:40pm (cause of the traffic jam at the industrial zone area). When I reach hospital, I saw Isaac’s face was so white and pale and he was very very very weak. I’ve never seen him that weak before and his eyes were like rolling upwards and wanted to fell asleep. My babysitter kept talking and playing with him so that he doesn’t fall to deep sleep.
We couldn’t wait any longer so we took him to the emergency instead. The nurse was not helpful at all and they kept saying nothing wrong with him (That time his breathing was back to normal, no more swollen body but he look very very pale and weak).
After some persuasions from us they finally his temperature and oxygen level and told us everything looks normal. I was a bit relieved that time but I just want the doctor to confirm it.
Dr Tan finally came at 7pm sharp! He said he was driving like an F1 driver to reach the hospital as fast as he could. When he saw Isaac, he straight away carries him and kisses him while we make ourselves inside his workplace. He said this is definitely allergy reactions already and ask us not to worry too much. By taking medications Isaac should be fine and no need for any admission. Thank God! :)
Back home, feeding Isaac’s medicine was “not so easy” task as I need to force the medicine down his throat. Less than 1 hour, he became to look ‘normal’ again.
According to Alice, his body reacts very fast to the egg. It was like less than 10seconds, his body started to react and he was having difficulties in breathing for about 20minutes. Alice told me she was so panicked and quickly drove him to the nearby clinic already.

Isaac @6months
Weight: 9.1kg
Height: 70cm
Head circumference: 45cm (I think or was it 42?)
Teeth: 2! Yay
I've started to feed him rice cereal when he's 5 1/2 months old. Besides rice cereal I tried Rusk biscuits+EBM, apple & pear puree. Compare to Naomi, Isaac is not that 'open' about food. Well, no worries for me as I guess every child is unique and I hope he will be willing to try and experiment with variety of food one day. I still breastfeed him and he will take about 6-7oz of EMB. I express my milk 2 times during office hours and will feed him direct when I'm at home with him. He still wakes up in the middle of the night for feeding.
I'm not sure whether it was his teething that gave him problem in eating solids but he has been cranky and refuse for the last 1 week. Finally, we saw 2 teeth on his bottom gums. Sometimes, he will 'bite' when I direct feed him and I need to control my expression cause if I over-react he will laugh (as though I'm encouraging him). But most of the time, I will scold him and ask him not to do it again.
As for his motor development. He's able to sit without support now, roll over both side and able to crawl from one end to the other end using his stomach.
We took Isaac for his first swimming experience 2 weeks ago and he's loving the experience!

Teething or ....???
I remember Naomi started drooling around the 5th month only. My mother in law didn’t suspect anything and she just told me that some babies will drool a lot and it’s not teething.
I read from the internet this morning and the signs above clearly shown that Isaac is indeed experiencing the ‘teething’ process. So, we will see..... I was wrong about him fitting 3-6months clothes. I need to change another set of clothes already to 6-9months now. I can’t believe how fast he has grown!

And so my breastfeeding journey begins....yet again....
With the birth of Isaac, so begins this second breastfeeding journey of mine. Psychologically, of course I am very prepared…prepared to sacrifice sleep for at least a few weeks or months, prepared for interrupted schedules and definitely prepared to reap the fulfilling rewards.
This time round, hallelujah, my milk came in immediately. He is definitely a pro at breastfeeding, but sometimes he can get a little bit lazy after nursing on one side, and needs to be woken up for feeding on the other side. During confinement, Isaac is fed on demand and usually asks for a feed every 2-3 hours, but sometimes less frequently.
I started to express my milk during confinement month so that I will have enough milk for him when I started working. It has been 2months plus and I’m still hanging there although there were times I wish to quit as I want to go travelling (I need to think twice) :)
I plan to breastfeed for at least 1 year only and I have to sacrifice my travelling plan for this.
As of now, Isaac is taking 6oz of milk for every 3-4hours and in the middle of the night shen he wakes up I will direct feed him (sometimes not for hunger and more of a comfort feeding).

The Drama....
So I went to work as usual on Friday (2nd of January 2009) and I was normal and started chatting with one of my colleagues and I told her about the discharge. She quickly asked me to go check up but I told her I was not in pain and fine. She kept insisting me to go if not call my doctor for confirmation. So, I called my doctor but the nurse pick up and didn’t want me to speak to the doctor and kept asking me to come over and let doctor check. I was hesitated at first as what if it was a false alarm and I need to come and go back to work again and etc. In the end I made the decision to go and see my doctor. I waited for 15minutes before my turn and doctor checked and to my surprised I was already 4cm dilated!! I asked the doctor whether I can go back and pack my bag and he said ‘No’ and asked me to admit right away. That time was about 12pm already. So, in the end Tjun Aun went back to take my stuff and I was taken to the labour room to change and get ready. I was put on drip at 12:30pm or 1pm. The reason is the doctor plan to induced and make my contractions come closer together and dilate faster. It was so fast and I’ve already dilate to 5cm and the pain was too much and I asked for painkiller but the nurse told me it was too late to have painkiller so they gave me the gas as pain relieve. The gas makes me light headed and sleepy! I started to have the urge to pass motion and told the nurse I want to push and the nurse checked and told me to hang on. I waited for another 10more minutes and I have the urge again and I yelled to the nurses and they said I can start to push.
This time round, it was a real drama for me as I was screaming and shouting like mad woman! Hahaha…..first of all, they can’t get my doctor (heard he is having lunch at the cafeteria and didn’t pick up his hp). Secondly, they asked Tjun Aun to wait outside and he can only come in when the doctor is here and thirdly, I can see the nurses and midwife’s faces all panicking (as they were 2 new nurses that day and their faces was not reassuring at all!). I was not confident at all and was in pain!! Finally after 5 minutes my doctor arrived and I was very relieve to see his face and Tjun Aun was there with me and I started to push like mad (as if passing big and hard stool). After 3-4pushes, the baby came out and I can feel the sense of relieve all over me.
Although I suffer for less than 1 hour but that was the longest 1 hour in my life. I’m glad and thank God for the smooth delivery. Baby Isaac was born finally and he is on total breastfeeding and he is able to latch and suck well as of now. As for me, I hope to get back in shape :) and pumping milk for storage (need to keep the milk supply for him after I start work again in another 2 months time).
